The following corridors in Northeast Redmond will experience significant traffic changes throughout the summer:
• Northeast 116th Street between 167th Place and 172nd Avenue Northeast will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday, June 22. This project will reconstruct Northeast 116th to meet site distance and safety standards in advance of construction of Fire Station 17.
Preliminary work is scheduled to begin this week and the closure is expected to last through early September. Local access for emergency vehicles and to properties in the construction zone will be maintained. Detour routes will be clearly marked.
• The intersection of Northeast 124th Street and SR 202 (Redmond-Woodinville Road) will undergo numerous improvements including the addition of two through lanes on the east leg, extensions of curbs, gutters and sidewalks, as well as installation of a right turn lane onto northbound SR 202.
This work will require the temporary closure of up to two westbound lanes and signal modification to accommodate traffic flow. Exact dates for construction impacts will be posted on the city’s Web site, www.redmond.gov, Redmond City Television and Redmond Community radio, AM 1650.
