King County appraisers have begun their annual in-person property inspections, which are required for each property at least once every six years.

County property appraisers visit around one-sixth of all properties in the county each year to ensure the homes are valued correctly.

An inspection is usually an exterior observation, which is used to compare the current state of the property to that on record. To finish the inspections, county assessors may need to enter side or back yards and if additional information is needed, the inspectors will knock on the door to speak with the property owner. All appraisers will carry county identification.

For the 2019 assessment year, Eastside residents in Hunts Point, Clyde Hill, Cottage Lake, Woodinville, Newport, Kennydale and Skykomish will be inspected along with some south end and Seattle neighborhoods.
