Preliminary results for the Nov. 6 general election came in around 8:10 p.m. Tuesday night.

Both state House seats and the Senate position (after a special election in 2017) were open in the 45th Legislative District. The 45th district encompasses part of King County, including Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish and Woodinville.

Incumbent Sen. Manka Dhingra (D-Kirkland) ran against Dale Fonk, a Republican from Woodinville, to return to Olympia. Dhingra’s election in 2017 gave Democrats a one-vote majority in the state Senate. As of election night, she was leading with about 64 percent of the vote, to Fonk’s 36 percent.

Also in the 45th, two longtime legislators ran to retain their seats in the state House.

Redmond Republican Michael Curtis challenged incumbent Rep. Roger Goodman (D-Kirkland) in position 1. Goodman was leading 67 percent to 33 percent, as of election night.

Incumbent Rep. Larry Springer (D-Kirkland) ran against Amber Krabach, a Republican from Woodinville, to retain position 2. Springer was leading with about 68 percent of the vote to Krabach’s 32 percent in initial returns.

Washington votes by mail and ballots can be postmarked as late as Election Day, meaning results could change in the following days. Check back this week for updated results.
