Redmond High players are jubilant after defeating Newport, 36-21, on Oct. 26 in 4A KingCo football action. Redmond trailed 21-0 after the first quarter and rebounded to notch the victory. Redmond’s Carson Bruener led the defense with 14 tackles and Matthew Janetzki had 12 tackles. Offensively, the Mustangs pounded 35 rushes for 225 yards, including Bruener with 13 carries for 90 yards and two TDs, Anakin Downer with 11 carries for 77 yards and one TD and Tyler Fortney with 10 carries for 55 yards. Bruener also had four catches for 43 yards and one TD, and Fortney was 10-for-19 passing for 123 yards and two TDs. Redmond will play Juanita at 7 p.m. Friday at Redmond High in a consolation game.
