Redmond resident and senior Jason Medeiros was voted one of four captains by his teammates for this year’s Eastside Catholic High varsity football team, which is 1-1 at press time. The Crusaders will take on Rigby at 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at home.
Medeiros, now a standout center who was a two-time all-3A Metro League selection at guard, is a four-year varsity player and a three-year starter for the Crusaders. He started as a freshman in 2015 during the squad’s playoff run that resulted in the team’s second consecutive 3A state title.
Medeiros — the Crusaders’ only offensive player captain — has three current offers to play college ball, one of which is from the Air Force Academy, and has gained attention from several Ivy League schools and a couple other Division I schools. He has a 3.96 grade-point average, a 32 ACT score and is a member of the National Honor Society.
