The Redmond High School fastpitch team’s playoff hopes came up one run short.

Eastlake scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally for a 7-6 win in Tuesday’s playoff tiebreaker game at Woodinville High School. Both the Mustangs and Wolves finished the regular season 4-10, tied for fourth place in the Kingco 4A Crest Division — forcing Tuesday’s tiebreaker contest.

The Wolves earned the fourth and final playoff spot to the league tournament, which starts today.

The Mustangs trailed 5-4 before Ashley Mitchell’s two-run home run in the bottom of sixth inning gave Redmond a 6-5 lead. But the Wolves answered with two more runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead for good and put an end to the Mustangs’ season.

Mitchell led the Mustangs with three RBIs and two runs scored. Elaine Wang and Hannah Rudebaugh each had three hits for the Mustangs, who finished the season with an overall record of 6-13.
