The Redmond Kiwanis Club presented a check for $500 to members of the Redmond United Methodist Church in support of its Summer Lunch Program on July 11.

This program will provide a nutritious lunch for approximately 30-40 children living in Redmond who qualify for free/reduced meals during the school year but lack access to these types of programs when schools are closed for the summer. The students will also attend a recreational program offered by the City of Redmond.

“Redmond Kiwanis continues its robust commitment to support the nutritional needs of Redmond’s children and families,” Redmond Kiwanis President Byron Shutz said in a press release. “With this donation, initiated by one of its newest members, Redmond Kiwanis joins multiple Redmond partners to expand support of families needing meals for children over the summer months.”

Redmond Kiwanis has a long-standing commitment to local service projects aimed at supporting nutrition for youths, including:

Preparation and serving monthly meals at The Landing in collaboration with Friends of Youth.

Volunteer support for Hopelink’s Food Bank and Pantry Packs programs.

Preparing and serving meals at Jubilee Reach.
