Start the new year out right at the Sammamish Polar Bear 5K on Jan. 27 at the Redmond Central Connector Park.

The Sammamish Rowing Association (SRA) in association with the Woodinville Running Company are hosting this event to promote fitness, community and giving back as a portion of the proceeds go to help its rowing scholarship fund.

Redmond-based SRA was founded in 1995 and has been serving the community ever since. They offer opportunities to row for all ages from 12 to 80-plus. SRA has both adult rowing and junior rowing teams as well as beginner classes.

The event starts promptly at 9 a.m. and the course is a fast, flat paved course that is perfect for the racer or families with strollers. There will be age-group awards, including a U14 division. To register, visit www.woodinvillerunningcompany.com.
