A 70-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a vehicle crossing Avondale Road on Dec. 15.
The Redmond Police Department (RPD) and the King County Medical Examiner’s office said the victim was Toni Haley, an employee of PCC who was struck around 4 a.m. as she crossed Avondale Road on her way to work.
She was not using a crosswalk and died immediately, the press release said.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Haley cooperated with police and there is no evidence of intoxicated or reckless driving, police said.
Police said in the release that residents should wear lights or reflective clothing when walking when it is dark, as well as to obey crosswalks and pedestrian traffic signals.
The southbound lane of Avondale was closed for several hours and RPD said at 6:08 a.m. that the road was open in both directions.
