Monday, Nov. 27

Car prowl: Redmond police took a car-prowl report at 6:58 a.m. in the 6300 block of 188th Lane Northeast. A woman reported an unknown suspect had rifled through her vehicle sometime during the night but did not appear to take anything. Officers determined the vehicle had likely been left unlocked as no sign of forced entry was found.

Sunday, Nov. 26

Vandalism: Redmond police took a vandalism report at 9:22 p.m. in the 1000 block of 136th Avenue Northeast. An unknown suspect pried open a locked mail box and may have taken mail.

Saturday, Nov. 25

Bike theft: Redmond police took a bike-theft report at 9:33 a.m. in the 16300 block of Northeast 83rd Street. A woman reported having her locked bike stolen off the deck of her apartment unit sometime over the past week. There was no information about a possible suspect and the victim. Police recommend that people record the serial number and specifics of their bicycle to aid in recovering it if it is stolen.

Friday, Nov. 24

Shoplifting: Redmond police took a shoplifting report at 12:16 a.m. in the 17600 block of Union Hill Road. It appeared from the department-store surveillance video that a group of suspects had stolen merchandise and then fled the store as the loss-prevention manager chased them. The group got into a waiting vehicle and left the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Thursday, Nov. 23

Car prowl: Redmond police took a car-prowl report at 11:16 p.m. in the 2200 block of 148th Avenue Northeast. A woman reported having her vehicle’s rear window smashed while parked in a department store lot while she was inside shopping. The unknown suspect stole a shopping bag containing some newly purchased gifts. Police recommend not leaving any shopping bags, gifts or packages in plain sight in your vehicle as it can tempt thieves.

Wednesday, Nov. 22

DUI: Redmond police took a DUI report at 2:05 a.m. at the intersection of 166th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 110th Street. A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after an officer observed him driving erratically, swerving, and almost running into a marked police vehicle. He was booked into jail and his vehicle was impounded.

Tuesday, Nov. 21

Burglary: Redmond police took a residential-burglary report at 11:27 a.m. in the 18300 block of Northeast 101st Court. Officers responded to a report of a burglary from a residence that is currently being remodeled. One of the workers reported some tools from the construction site had been stolen. There is no suspect information at this time.

Monday, Nov. 20

Robbery: Redmond police took a robbery report at 3:14 p.m. in the 17200 block of Redmond Way. Police were called to a local grocery store after a minor had been detained by loss prevention for stealing liquor. The store employee said he had seen the 15-year-old take five bottles of liquor and hide them in his backpack. Upon confrontation, the suspect reacted violently punching the employee in the head and body slamming him. Police booked and processed the suspect and then released him to his mother.

Sunday, Nov. 19

Car prowl: Redmond police took a car-prowl report at 11:32 a.m. in the 1000 block of 166th Avenue Northeast. A woman’s briefcase and purse were stolen out of her unattended vehicle after a suspect smashed her car window and made off with her belongings. The suspect then used her stolen credit cards at a nearby store less than an hour after the burglary. The suspect has not yet been identified and the investigation is ongoing. Police encourage people to never leave valuables or have any bags visible in their vehicle.

Saturday, Nov. 18

Drug offense: Redmond police took a drug-offense report at 12:43 a.m. in the 10900 block of 164th Place Northeast. Officers were contacted to investigate a suspicious occupied vehicle parked outside the caller’s residence. Upon arrival, police found the driver, a 63-year-old male with a lengthy criminal history and known to police, an adult passenger and two small dogs inside the vehicle. The female passenger was observed having drug paraphernalia sticking out of her sweatshirt pocket. Officers called for the K-9 unit to come to sniff the vehicle and instructed the driver to roll up the windows, get out of the car, and leave the two small dogs inside. The driver rolled up the windows, turned the vehicle on and sped off, narrowly missing two police vehicles as he fled. The female suspect was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. The case was forwarded to the Redmond Prosecutor’s Office in order to determine appropriate charges for the male suspect who fled.

Friday, Nov. 17

Fraud: Redmond police took a fraud report at 11:29 a.m. in the 7100 block of 139th Place Northeast. A man called the police department after falling victim to a scam that had conned him out of more than $20,000. The victim reported he had been contacted over the phone by someone claiming to be an attorney out of California. The caller told him he was eligible to receive more than $300,000 from a class-action lawsuit if he sent money in advance to cover processing fees. The victim said the caller had provided names and titles of people that he looked up and appeared to him to be legitimate. Upon investigation, the majority of the information the suspects provided to the victim was falsified with public information spliced in to make the scheme seem legitimate. At this time the suspects have not been identified.
