Redmond’s varsity girls took first place and the varsity boys snagged second at the 2A/3A KingCo cross country championships on Oct. 21 at Lake Sammamish State Park.
Chloe Connolly led the Mustang girls with a second-place finish in 18 minutes, 52.14 seconds in the 5K race. Also in the top 10, Lauren Lehr placed eighth in 19:46.72.
On the boys’ side, Redmond’s George Cretu took fourth in 16:00.13 and John Lehr took fifth in 16:00.18. Also in the top 10, Kyle Nickum took eighth in 16:21.81 and Cooper Arons took ninth in 16:21.93. The Stangs snagged second to Interlake, the state’s top 3A-ranked team.
The district meet is this Saturday at Lake Sammamish State Park.
First-team all-Kingco Redmond runners are Cretu, John Lehr and Connolly. Second-team all-Kingco Stangs are Kyle Nickum, Arons, Travis Mason, Lauren Lehr, Ailey Butler and Naho Masaki.
On the JV side at KingCo, Redmond’s boys and girls placed first, and the girls notched a perfect score.
