Fields is focused on solutions that benefit everybody | Letter

After hearing (repeatedly!) from my neighbor that Steve Fields is the guy for Redmond City Council Position 2, I decided I wanted to find out more for myself. I met Steve at his Thursday Community Coffee Time, heard his insights about issues affecting Redmond – and then he listened.

When Steve talks about his vision for Redmond, “Build Community not Just Buildings,” it actually means something. He believes that the best civic leadership is based first on trust, then making sure residents are well-informed, then engaging the community in a dialogue before important decisions are made. His process is to bring stakeholders together and figure out a solution that benefits everybody. I like that he’s a “project guy”.

I’m very impressed with Steve’s experience and qualifications. His credentials in budgeting and financial management and experience running his own small business, combined with his focus on real life solutions, will make sure that our tax dollars are used most efficiently and effectively.

As a longtime Redmond resident, I worry about losing the qualities that make my neighborhood a community and not just a collection of houses. I love the new restaurants and shops downtown, but I also want the kids on my block to still be able to play badminton in the street. Steve gets this. He also gets that change is necessary for the city to flourish.

I’m voting for Steve because I trust him. He is a rare breed these days, someone who truly believes in public service. If you talk to him for just a few minutes, you’ll feel his love for Redmond. I think his skill and dedication, his compassion and pragmatism, are what our city needs.
