Redmond softball defeated Garfield, 9-2, in the opening round of the 3A SeaKing District tournament on Wednesday at the Southwest Athletic Complex (SAC) in Seattle.

Redmond scored eight runs in the third inning to break the game open. Tops at the plate for the Mustangs were Kiki Milloy with three hits and two RBIs; Leona Tibbs with two hits; Haley Hanson with one hit and one RBI; Jen Cummings with one hit and two RBIs; and Lauren Lund with one hit and one RBI.

Milloy got the win with 17 strikeouts and she gave up just two hits.

The Mustangs will next play Bainbridge at 4 p.m. today at SAC.
