Market Street Shoes has opened a second location at Redmond Town Center, 7325 166th Ave. N.E. F115.
A mainstay on Ballard’s Market Street for more than a decade, this family-run business sells shoes for men and women. Market Street Shoe brands include Dansko and Eric Michael—as well as apparel by Toad & Co.
“Because we are a locally owned, independent store we can choose styles that cater to the communities we’re located in; we’re not choosing product to please the masses,” said co-owner Lanne Stauffer, who created the business with her husband Ryan Stauffer. “Similar to the Ballard community, we know that the Eastside has high expectations for what they buy, and we share that expectation of shoes, clothing, and accessories that we sell.”
The additional location for the Stauffers’ business means dedication to a new community. The husband-and-wife team aim to serve Redmond and the Eastside through unique products that can’t be found in national retailers — handcrafted items, or brands from Spain and Portugal, for example.
But they’re also dedicated to being outstanding members of their community. The couple pioneered the successful Ballard Gives Black Friday Program — where participating businesses donate a portion of their sales to a local nonprofit. The Stauffers themselves have worked extensively to benefit the United Indians Youth Home benefiting homeless youth, and will build similar partnerships on the Eastside.
The philosophy of the store is to think of customers as investors in the long-term success of Market Street Shoes.
“In an age where it’s so easy to go online and buy shoes, we want our customers to feel valued and know that we value their time and efforts,” said Ryan Stauffer.
