Plenty of ‘Black Friday’ specials to spark the shopping season

To some, the words “Black Friday” sound ominous, like a disaster movie on the Sci-Fi Channel.

To retailers, however, “Black Friday” is a marvelous thing — the day after Thanksgiving, when holiday shoppers spring into action.

In this strained economic climate, retailers will have to jump through some hoops to lure thrifty customers through their doors. At Redmond Town Center, a number of merchants are offering special deals to kick off the holiday shopping frenzy.

Unless otherwise specified, these deals are good only on Black Friday, Nov. 28. Offers are subject to change, depending on product availability.

• Aeropostale — On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 28-30, you’ll get 50 percent off everything in the store, except fragrances.

• American Eagle — Twenty percent off purchases until 1 p.m., then you get a scratch ticket (for a discount) with purchase.

• Bath & Body Works — They’ll have bargains on starters and refills of bath and body products. Products from the Anti-bacterial Collection will be four for $10. Select forms of Warm Vanilla Sugar and Japanese Cherry Blossom products will be $4 all weekend. Get a VIP bag with 10 products (a $106.50 value) for $15, with every $40 purchase, this weekend only.

• Bed Bath & Beyond — Twenty percent off your entire purchase with a coupon handed out at the door from 6-10 a.m.

• Chico’s — Free Peace shirt with your purchase.

• Claire’s — With every $20 you spend, you get $10 bonus dollars to spend the first two weeks in December.

• Cost Plus World Market — At 7 a.m., the first 100 people through the door get a free ornament and scratch card. The scratch card might help you win National Geographic trips or in-store prizes. They are also giving coupons to the first 100 patrons.

• Fine Wine & Cigars — Buy 25 cigars, get 25 percent off purchase for club members, 15 percent off for the public. Also, several wines will be discounted 10-20 percent.

• Franklin Covey — A Retro 51 capped pen, blue or white only, is $10 (regular price, $19.95). A Quad-point pen in tortoise shell or satin silver is discounted to $19.95 (regular price, $49.95).

• Laura Victoria — Everything is 50 percent off.

• Lenscrafters — $100 off sale for all frames and lenses. Seventy percent off all non-prescription sunglasses.

• Lucy Activewear — Select outwear is 40 percent off. An art hoodie and pant set is $30.99 through Dec. 1.

• Macy’s — Specials vary by department.

• The Maytag Store — $500 off front-load Maytag laundry sets. $1,000 Kitchen Aid Stainless refrigerators. A free set of four steak knives to the first 50 people in the door. Also, double warranty day.

• Naartjie — Additional 40 percent off all clearance items and 25 percent off entire stock of outerwear and sweaters.

• Petco — Enroll in the new Pals Rewards Program and earn points to spend once a quarter. Earn 1,000 points and get 10 percent off. With 1,500 points you get 15 percent off (10 points per dollar).

• Regis Salon — Buy two products, get the third free.

• Rose’s Floral Boutique, with poinsettia purchase — Two for one Christmas ornaments, free delivery.

• See’s Candies — Seasonal five-count pack of eggnog truffles are back for a limited time.

• Starbucks 1 (Center Court only) — Free samples of food and coffee the entire day.

• Studio Nails — Stop by for a $10 off coupon for a pedicure.
