Redmond High’s Koeppen commits to play at Lewis and Clark

Redmond High senior Kelley Koeppen has committed to continue her basketball career with the Lewis and Clark Pioneers in Portland, Ore. next fall.

Koeppen, a forward/center, played in all 20 games during the 2013-14 season, averaging 8.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game (fifth highest in 4A KingCo) and earning 4A KingCo all-league honorable mention.

The Pioneers, led by head coach Juli Fulks, play in the NCAA Division III Northwest Conference, have four NCAA Division III tournament appearances and won the Northwest Conference Championship in 2012-13.

“We are very excited to welcome Kelley into our Pioneer family. She brings many strengths to our program and we are excited to help Kelley chase her goals both on and off the court,” Fulks said.

Koeppen added: “I’m very excited to continue my basketball career at the collegiate level. Lewis and Clark is a great college and a great basketball program with a tradition of winning. I also want to thank coaches (Kim) Gervasoni, (Rita) Costello and (Mark) Jorgensen for helping me get to this level and my Redmond teammates for their support and encouragement.”

Of Koeppen’s commitment to play for the Pioneers, Gervasoni noted: “I’m thrilled that Kelley has decided to continue her playing career at Lewis and Clark College. She will be a great addition to a strong NCAA Division III program. The Lewis and Clark basketball team just added a quality person and basketball player to their roster and the Redmond family wishes her the best.”
