With classes set to start in four or five short weeks, it’s time for student athletes to get their annual sports physicals.
Overlake Medical Clinics is there to help make sure all kids are healthy before the fall sports season kicks off. By keeping the cost of a sports physical low at $40, the teams at Overlake’s urgent care clinics are making the exams more accessible than ever to Eastside families.
In addition to low cost, sports physicals are offered on a walk-in basis, six to seven days a week, at clinics in downtown Redmond, Bellevue, Issaquah and their new location in the Lake Hills neighborhood of Bellevue beginning Aug. 8.
“Sports physicals are important because they ensure student athletes are healthy and physically capable to perform without risk of serious injury,” said Dr. Dennis Rochier, CEO of Overlake Medical Clinics. “At Overlake we have consciously made an effort to make these appointments easy to schedule before the sports season begins.”
Nearly all states, schools and youth sport leagues require students complete a physical prior to participating in practices or games. And even if an exam isn’t required by the school, doctors still recommend getting one.
Sports physicals are typically required about a month before the official start of practice in order to allow time to address any medical conditions uncovered during the appointment.
