Out of nearly 1,100 students around the state, 20 students in the Lake Washington PTSA Council (LWPTSA) have been honored by the Washington State PTA for achievement in this year’s National PTA Reflections arts in education program.
Four of these students — Johanna Astle, Mia Glaister, Trevor Kunzweiler and Kalista Schultz — received first-place awards and have advanced to the final round of competition at National PTA. The awards honor imagination, creativity and interpretation of this year’s theme “Let Your Imagination Fly.”
These 20 winners, along with 98 other award winners from around the state, were honored at an awards ceremony on April 30 in Bellevue. National award winners will be announced in May.
“There are many opportunities for students to be recognized for academic and athletic excellence, but not quite so many for those with artistic talent. Our local and council PTSAs are so pleased to be able to give our creative students this chance to shine and share their amazing work with our community and our state”, said Caroline Eclipse, LWPTSA Council Reflections co-chairperson.
