Orange Blossom Society in Redmond and Aspiring Youth, also located in Redmond, have partnered to offer a free Holiday Farmers’ Market event to local families on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will feature local farms and merchants providing families with an opportunity to learn new recipes, taste locally grown food and create crafts. Young adults from Aspiring Youth will be helping to organize and facilitate the event.

“This provides an opportunity for the young adults of our program to build project management and entrepreneurial skills as they enter the work arena,” said Aspiring Youth program director Ben Wahl.

A winter clothing swap for children ages 12 months to 10 years will also be a part of the event. Suggested swap items include winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves, boots and ski wear. Families who wish to participate are invited to bring clothing at the beginning of the event, enjoy event activities and then “shop the swap” towards the end of the event. Donations of gently used toys will also be accepted for the Orange Blossom Society community play space.

“We love the things this event supports: sustainable living, building community and supporting local business,” said Orange Blossom Society managing director Sharman Ghio. “So clean up your closets and come on by with winter clothing and toys and have fun while supporting local independent businesses.”

The following local merchants will be featured during the event:

Rockridge Orchards and Cidery will have jugs of cider, as well as hot cider by the cup.
Firebird Chocolate will offer a cooking demonstration and have chocolate and coffee samples and sales.

The event will be at Orange Blossom Society at 16715 N.E. 79th St. in Redmond.

Orange Blossom Society will offer crafts for kids and a chance for parents to tour the facility and meet the staff. For more information visit www.orangeblossomsociety.com or call (425) 883-2400.
