The FedEx Ground Distribution Facility in Redmond has been awarded LEED Silver certification.

This is the first LEED certified distribution facility for FedEx Corp.

The design team achieved an 18 out of 19 possible points on the energy savings category. That translates to an energy savings of 46 percent. Strategies also contributing to the facility’s sustainability goals are bike racks and showers, a white roof, use of recycled content and the exclusion of VOC materials.

Designed by Freiheit & Ho Architects, the 212,000-square-foot facility is the largest industrial building in Redmond. The 785-foot-long building is constructed with 80,000 square feet of tilt-up concrete walls. The structure houses FedEx Ground offices and sorting and re-distribution equipment.
