Salmon SEEson returns to King County; Find out where to spot salmon and learn about their life cycle

Salmon SEEson is returning to King County.

Fall is nearly here and salmon populations throughout Puget Sound will be making the journey to area streams and rivers to spawn.

There are many opportunities to see these amazing creatures as they return to the streams where they were born several years ago. At many locations, naturalists are available to help you spot salmon, learn about their life cycle and what we all can do to protect them.

In and near Redmond, the best places to view salmon include:

• Along the Sammamish River Trail, south of the 85th Street bridge in Redmond, on Sept. 27 and Oct. 10 from 10 a.m.-noon; and on Nov. 1 with times to be determined. This salmon-watching site is sponsored by the City of Redmond. For more information, call (425) 556-2822 or e-mail pholte@redmond.gov.

• On Cottage Lake Creek in Woodinville, Tolt Pipeline bridge, on Oct. 3 from 1-4 p.m.; Oct. 7 from 3-6 p.m.; and Oct. 10 from 1-4 p.m. This site is sponsored by Water Tenders. For more information, call (425) 788-5083 or visit www.watertenders.org.
