The Goddard School, at 10611 Redmond Ridge Drive N.E., celebrated Earth Hour last Friday by turning off all of its lights and electricity from 10-11 a.m.

Throughout the week preceding Earth Hour, the school integrated lessons and activities designed to teach children about the environment and the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling.

“We’d been recycling all week long and doing different projects in their classrooms,” said Goddard School owner Shauna Barison.

Barison said the preschool and childcare facility caters to children from 6 weeks to 6 years old and has roughly 100 preschoolers and 60 toddlers. She added that they included environmental activities for all ages.
