The Puget Sound Regional Council will begin accepting nominations for its annual VISION 2040 Awards program on November 1, 2009. The Awards honor outstanding real-life examples of how the region is achieving our ambitious vision for growing wisely and creating great quality of life in all the region’s communities.
PSRC honors businesses, local governments, and non-profit organizations who do creative work to focus new housing and jobs in urban areas, provide transportation access and mobility, protect our natural environment, and improve the quality of life in the central Puget Sound region. The awards are designed to recognize the superb work being done to achieve our region’s growth, economic, and transportation strategy, VISION 2040.
Previous award winners include the Olympic Sculpture Park, Mountlake Terrace’s Housing Choices Program, Kitsap Telework, Port of Everett’s Mount Baker Terminal, Artspace Hiawatha Lofts,
Fife’s Valley Road, and South Seattle Community College’s Georgetown Campus. Nominations will be accepted until January 31, 2010. The awards will be presented at PSRC’s General Assembly in May 2010. The selection committee will be composed of nine elected leaders who serve on PSRC’s Executive and Policy Boards, and two regional experts.
