On June 26, the City of Redmond will hold a special re-opening event for Spiritbrook Neighborhood Park, from 12:30-2 p.m.
The park located at 6500 151st Ave. N.E. was originally built in 1974 when the Spiritbrook neighborhood was developed and has recently gone through improvements and renovation. Working together, the Public Works and Parks and Recreation departments redesigned the site from below ground to address the site and neighborhood drainage problems.
Spiritbrook Neighborhood Park contains a small wetland, which is now identified with wood posts and rail fencing. Visitors can peek into the wetland with a short walk along the path.
The park also contains a new and enlarged play structure, small sand area, pickle ball court, basketball hoop, loop trail and a small shelter for small gatherings. The play field is smaller than before to accommodate drainage, but now it is flat and dry, allowing for casual games and play.
Residents are invited to celebrate the ribbon cutting and spend the afternoon at the park. Games, activities and light picnic snacks will follow the ribbon cutting.
