Redmond High students receive scholarships from New Poets Society

On April 22, the Redmond Performing Arts Center, at 17272 N.E. 104th St., hosted the New Poet's Society Award Ceremony, which honored high school students from Redmond (RHS), Interlake (IHS) and Eastlake (EHS) high schools.

On April 22, the Redmond Performing Arts Center, at 17272 N.E. 104th St., hosted the New Poets Society Award Ceremony, which honored high school students from Redmond (RHS), Interlake (IHS) and Eastlake (EHS) high schools.

The event was hosted by RHS’s English Department Director Jen Mauck as New Poet’s Society President Rick Smith announced contest winners, who received scholarships for their post-secondary education.

A total of 303 students submitted poems for this year’s scholarship contest.

The following are student winners from RHS and the scholarship amount they received:

  • Kyla Smart – Mark DiRe scholarship for $500 for her poem, “Color.”
  • Bria Burditt – $500 for her poem, “Constant.”
  • Brooke LeFevre – $500 for her poem, “The Flare.”
