Good works of Redmond High students encouraging amid drug arrests

As a community member and teacher, news such as last Friday's drug arrests at Redmond High School can be pretty discouraging. How encouraging that same evening to open The Redmond Reporter and read stories about students excelling in sports, scouting, music, drama and academics or overcoming the challenges of autism and engaged students raising money for the American Read Cross Haitian relief.

As a community member and teacher, news such as last Friday’s drug arrests at Redmond High School can be pretty discouraging.

How encouraging that same evening to open The Redmond Reporter and read stories about students excelling in sports, scouting, music, drama and academics or overcoming the challenges of autism and engaged students raising money for the American Red Cross Haitian relief.

That issue of the Redmond Reporter helped put the day’s distressing events into the greater context of remembering that while everyone can make a mistake, the vast majority of young people are productive, involved and making responsible choices on a daily basis.
