The Redmond Police Department is investigating an incident along the Sammamish River Trail last Friday night, when a male suspect bit another man’s pinky, according to police spokesman Jim Bove.
Bove said a husband and wife, along with the wife’s father, were walking along the trail near Leary Way Northeast at around 9:30 p.m. when a group of three male rode by on white bicycles and dropped “a few items, one of which appeared to be a plastic container with marijuana in it,” Bove said.
Several minutes later, the cyclists turned around to retrieve the items, accused the family of taking the marijuana and “demanded they empty their pockets,” Bove said.
The family members explained that someone else had already grabbed the dropped items. That’s when one of the male suspects assaulted the husband, biting his pinkie finger.
The wife tried to call 911, but one of the male suspects knocked the phone out of her hand. The three male suspects then rode off northbound on the trail.
Police do not have an approximate age or a detailed description of the suspects as the case remains under investigation, Bove said.
