Playing for the first time in over a week due to last week’s weather, the Overlake Owls overcame the rust and beat Bush in a 1A Emerald City League matchup on Saturday 59-44.

The Owls were bolstered by a big 21-point second quarter, during which they took the lead for good.

Dean Poplawski led with a game-high 24, followed by Jackson Umberger with eight and Israel Hilerio with seven.

“It was the first time I had seen the team in a week, so it took some time to get going,” said head coach Justin Prohn. “But the team played hard which is a great sign for us heading down the final part of the season.”

Overlake (3-4, 7-8) plays again tonight in another makeup game, at Cedar Park Christian School at 6:15 p.m.
