Led by another strong performance from junior guard Jamie Meyer, the Bear Creek boys basketball team blasted Summit 61-36 at home in a Sea-Tac 2B League contest Tuesday night.
Meyer, the reigning league MVP, scored a game-high 24 points as the Grizzlies dominated from the tipoff.
The win kept the Grizzlies, the defending league champions, perfect at 2-0 in Sea-Tac 2B league play and 4-0 overall. Summit dropped to 0-2 and 1-3 overall.
After four games, Jamie Meyer is leading the league in scoring with 24.8 points per game.
Behind Meyer, freshman forward Lucas Fernandez and sophomore guard Lucas Peterson both scored 12.
The game was all but over by halftime, as the Grizzlies limited Summit to just two points in the second quarter on the way to a 29-9 lead heading into the locker room.
Grizzly girls win league opener
The Bear Creek girls basketball team broke open a close game in the fourth quarter on the way to a 46-38 win against Summit in its Sea-Tac B League opener Tuesday night at home.
Tajel Mehta and Megan Cheever both scored in double figures for the Grizzlies, who are 2-3 overall.
Mehta led the team with 14 points, followed by Cheever with 13.
The game was nip-and tuck until the fourth quarter, when the Grizzlies outscored Summit, 14-7.
Bear Creek clung to a 32-31 lead entering the fourth quarter before it tightened its defense to seal the win.
