Election season kicks off Monday
The political season begins in earnest on Monday, June 2 as candidates begin filing for elective office. The in-person filing period ends on Friday, June 6 at 5 p.m. Online filing ends an hour earlier.
It will be a busy season. Offices from president to congressional seats are up for election. In the state, the governor’s office and other statewide offices will be on the ballot, plus a number of local legislative seats.
The state primary will be on Tuesday, August 19.
The general election will be on Tuesday, November 4.
To vote in the next election, you must register at least 30 days before Election Day.
Historical Society to hold picnic
The Redmond Historical Society will hold its last get-together until September from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 14 at Anderson Park, 7802 168th Ave. NE.
This is the society’s annual picnic, so bring your family and friends and a favorite potluck dish to share. The Redmond Historical Society will provide the rest.
The Old-Time Fiddlers will entertain.

Farm celebration slated for June 14
Celebrate first-of-the-season, farm-fresh fruits and vegetables at the South 47 Farm in Redmond, Saturday June 14 and Sunday, June 15, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
The farm’s 2008 hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., beginning June 11.
