LWPTSA Council honors individuals for work with children and youth

On Friday, the Lake Washington PTSA Council honored nine individuals for their outstanding work with children and youth.

On Friday, the Lake Washington PTSA Council honored nine individuals for their outstanding work with children and youth.

The event also celebrated the anniversary of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers.

The 2011 Award Recipients were:

• Community Service: Amanda Hirst, Librarian, Redmond Regional Library

Certificate of Special Service: Julie Shalaby, Special Needs Chair LWPTSA Council

• Golden Acorn: John Stilin, Parent volunteer, Rockwell Elementary School and Redmond City Council member

• Outstanding Educator: Joyce Teshima, Redmond Elementary School principal

• Outstanding Service: Dr. Chip Kimball, Lake Washington School District Superintendent

• Outstanding Advocate: Michele Stanish-Walls, Interim Advocacy Chair LWPTSA Council

• Outstanding Advocate: Matt Loschen, PTSA member and Advocacy Chair, Redmond High and Evergreen Jr. High

• Honorary Life Membership: Robyn Brown, Rosa Parks Kindergarten teacher and PTSA member

• Delong Scholarship Award: Wendy Delong, PTSA member
