The winless Redmond High football team scored a season-high 24 points last Friday against the Newport Knights, but it wasn’t enough as the Mustangs were handed their seventh loss of the season 42-24.

Facing a 14-0 deficit, kicker Chris Schumacher got the Mustangs on the board with a 25-yard field goal, and later in the third Brady Anderson launched a 64-yard bomb to Nikolaj la Cour.

The Knights always kept it at least a two-possession game, but the Mustangs found the end zone twice more in the fourth quarter with Anderson passing his second score of the game to Kyle Chandler and backup quarterback Zack Wheat nailing sophomore Spencer Niederhausen for a 28-yard touchdown just before time expired.

For the game, the Knights racked up 410 yards of offense, nearly evenly split between rushing and passing, as the Mustangs’ Anderson had a 17-for-34 night for 227 yards in the air.

La Cour led all receivers with eight receptions for 124 yards.

The loss dropped Redmond to 0-4 in Kingco Crest Division play and 0-7 overall.
