City to host meeting about Fire Station 17

The City of Redmond will host an informational meeting about the progress to date of Fire Station 17, from 7- 9 p.m. Thursday, June 25 at the Redmond City Hall Council Chambers, 15670 NE 85th St.

Fire Station 17 will be built in the 16900 block of Northeast 116th Avenue to fill an identified need for reduced response times within the growing North Redmond neighborhood.

Project architects, Mayor John Marchione and city staff from the Fire, Public Works and Planning departments will be on hand to provide project information and answer questions about the schedule, design, construction and operation of Fire Station 17. A presentation at 7 p.m. will be followed by time to look at site plans and ask questions one-on-one.

The fire station is currently in the design phase, with several environmental assessments completed. Funds for construction are available in the city’s capital improvement budget and funding for aid car personnel was approved by voters in fall 2007. The anticipated schedule for construction is from mid-2010 to mid-2011.
