Michelle Hillis, a Redmond doctor, will participate in her third Danskin Triathlon coming up on Aug. 19 in Seattle.
Her participation in the race inspired her sister to participate last year and Hillis said she hopes to inspire others as well.
“The swim part is the most intimidating part of the race,” said Hillis, who is a former varsity swimmer for Juanita High School and understands most people don’t have as much swimming experience as her. “It is possible for many people to do a triathlon, even without a lot of swimming experience. You do have to know how to swim though and it is best to get in the lake for some swims prior to the race so you know what it feels like. With all the excitement about the London Olympics right now this is a great time to do an athletic event.”
