The annual Mustang Open golf tournament will be held on Sept. 14 at Bear Creek Country Club, with a noon start time.

The proceeds from this event, which has annually raised money to support the Redmond High School golf teams and girls’ basketball teams, will also support football and wrestling this year.

The money raised will go towards providing participation fees, gear, equipment, practice opportunities and tournament entry for student-athletes at Redmond High.

“The most important need now is to ensure full participation for high school student athletes,” said girls’ golf head coach Jake Crowley. “I will not allow a girl’s inability to pay the participation fee prohibit her from competing in our program, we will subsidize based on need and circumstance. The Mustang Open will help with that endeavor.”

The entry fee is set at $125 per person or $500 per foursome and includes greens fees, golf cart, dinner and the silent auction following competition, which will be a four-person team scramble format.

Participants or donors also have the opportunity to become a tournament sponsor at levels ranging from $300-$2,000.

“We hope to grow the third-year tournament to include the whole gamut of athletic programs at Redmond High School, and we need to get the Redmond community to grow with it,” added Crowley.
