A 48-year-old Renton man was arrested Monday afternoon after leading police on a high-speed chase, which started in Snoqualmie, went through Sammamish and came to a crashing end on a SR 520 on-ramp in Redmond.

The chase began at around 2:30 p.m. at Snoqualmie Park Way and Southeast 96th Street, where King County Sheriff deputies tried to pull over the man, who was erratically driving a red Jeep Cherokee, according to Sgt. John Urquhart, spokesperson for the King County Sheriff’s office.

“It appeared the guy was DUI from his driving,” Urquhart said.

The man, who turned out to be sober, never pulled over and just sped away toward Redmond on SR 202.

“He fled because he had a misdemeanor warrant from Aberdeen, which turned out to be non-extraditable anyway,” Urquhart said.

The Renton man sped down SR 202 into Redmond before merging onto the SR 520 on-ramp, which is being worked by the Washington State Department of Transportation as part of the 520 widening project.

The chase finally ended on top of the ramp when one of the county deputies rammed into the Jeep Cherokee, causing the suspect driver to lose control and stop.

No one was injured and the Renton man was arrested for Felony Flight, Urquhart said.
