R-TRIP, Redmond’s Trip Resource and Incentive Program, will engage Redmond residents and visitors with two new promotions at the Impact Eco-Fair at the Derby Days Summer Festival this Saturday at City Hall Campus.
The promotions will give participants a chance to win prizes from local Redmond businesses, while promoting the benefits of driving less and reducing greenhouse gases.
As an incentive to reduce driving, R-TRIP’s “Go Green Summer Challenge” will reward Redmond residents who replace their typical drive-alone trip with a more green option, such as biking, walking, taking the bus or carpooling with another family.
Unlike R-TRIP’s traditional reward system, which is based on accomplishing 50 alternative work-related commute trips, this challenge is geared towards personal trips, such as trips to the grocery store, library, a friend’s house, the park, etc.
Participants with current R-TRIP accounts will now see the new Trip Log on their myR-TRIP account, and those new to R-TRIP will need to create an account at www.GOrtrip.com.
Each day a typical driving trip is replaced with a green trip, the participant logs the trip on their Trip Log and automatically is entered into a drawing where each month 25 residents will receive local Redmond prizes.
Secondly, all Derby Days attendees will be invited to “Play Tag with R-TRIP.”
With the support of Microsoft, R-TRIP’s newest promotion uses Microsoft Tag, a mobile 2D barcode. Users simply download the free tag app from their app store; scan the R-TRIP tag with their smartphone and enter the drawing.
Participants will be awarded monthly prizes including $50 Think Redmond cards, free Redmond lunches, Microsoft Kinect™ and a grand prize of a Redmond Staycation. All subsequent scans will link users to current R-TRIP news relating to commute resources and promotions that affect their Redmond trips.
