Hot Off The Press, a family-owned printing services company at 7126 180th Ave. NE, Suite C-104, has become the first EnviroStar Certified (four stars) printer in Redmond.
The EnviroStar program was created in King County as a service of the local Hazardous Waste Management in 1995 and has since been adopted across the Puget Sound region. EnviroStars represent proactive ways to enhance the quality of life in the Pacific Northwest.
“Most companies and products that become green tend to increase their prices. However, Hot Off The Press, with its green print design approach is doing things differently,” said Andrew Koeppen, owner and managing director. “We have looked at increasing value and decreasing our customer costs by looking for ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency. We have done several case studies using our Green Print Design principles and have reduced our clients’ printing costs, significantly, while actually improving the quality of their printing projects.”
In addition to Green Print Design, Hot Off The Press actively seeks out schools, churches and other community groups which can use paper that would be considered scrap. This year, the business has given away more than 800 pounds of paper that would otherwise have been put into recycling bins.
Since December 2008, Hot Off The Press has also printed free resumes for people who have been laid off.
“Hot Off The press is one of the few printers that has grown this year and so to thank our customers and our community, we are inviting the community to drop by on Friday, Dec. 18 during office hours, for hot apple cider and Christmas baking,” said Koeppen.
