Karen Finneyfrock will facilitate a Geeking Out teen poetry workshop from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on July 24 at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, 16600 N.E. 80th St.

Richard Hugo House’s Finneyfrock is the author of the young adult novel “The Sweet Revenge of Celia Door.”

Redmond poet laureate Jeannine Hall Gailey will host the workshop.

Using prose from Daniel Handler (“Why We Broke Up”) and poetry from Shanny Jean Maney (“I Love Science!”) for inspiration, attendees will write list poems, poem tweets and poems about the universe or other geeky subjects. There will be time for both writing and sharing. No experience in poetry writing is necessary.
