Two girls, two boys and a whole lot of soccer talent.
Redmond High seniors Kennedy Kieneker, Veronica Chung, Pablo Gallo and Joey Parish took center stage at Wednesday’s letter-of-intent signing day in the school’s career center. Surrounded by parents, friends and school employees, the smiling foursome was brimming with confidence about unleashing its talent on the college circuit.
Kieneker (University of Arizona), Chung (San Jose State University) and Gallo (Florida Southern College) are all 4A Kingco standouts while Parish (University of Washington) shone on his Crossfire Premier club.
“I’m going to try my hardest to make the biggest impact I can freshman year,” said Kieneker, a center midfielder who learned about leadership and playing together as a team at Redmond.
Added Chung, a defender who played soccer with Kieneker for 10 years at Redmond and Crossfire, about San Jose State University: “They said I’d fit in with their program well and become a key player.” She’s excited to become part of a solid Spartan squad.
On the boys’ side, center midfielder Gallo said Florida Southern coach Ryan Sniegoski does a stellar job of creating a positive atmosphere within the team, which is something the Mustang values.
And there’s more, Gallo — also a Crossfire player — added: “(Sniegoski) seems hungry to win and that’s something I look for in a coach.”
As for Parish, a forward, he was the fifth top scorer in the country’s academy leagues last year with 20 goals.
He’s all in with the University of Washington: “I’ve grown up my whole life here and it’s hard to imagine going anywhere else. It’s a great program.”
